Due to get married end September 2026 but due baby number 2 beginning of August, roughly 7/8 weeks between the 2. I’ve been advised this time due to issues following my first birth that a planned c section will be the best option this time but they only do these now between 39-40 weeks.
Although the date is not that far away am I in the wrong for now possibly wanting to postpone? We have paid off the wedding venue (around £8000), given notice and just have the vendors to pay and final things left to buy (flower girl dresses, signs, suits etc) so not huge amounts but still a fair bit and still very stressful all while raising a 3.5 year old, working and trying to enjoy the last few weeks of pregnancy. The venue have said that we can move the date however we would then need to pay the registrar again and move all the vendors(who also may increase their prices), we also still have around £6500 left to pay before the wedding is fully paid off.
Mentally I feel like it’s a lot to deal with and the wedding is something I just can’t face right now but if we cancel completely we wil lose the venue money and all the deposits we have put down.
If we move the date or keep the original we’ve still got around £6500-£7500 left to pay, more so if prices increase.
If we could get the money back I honestly would go to the registry office, get married and call it a day as the big white wedding isn’t a priority for me anymore but unless we lose all the money we’ve spent so far that’s not an option and definitely not one my partner is willing to consider.
What would you do? Keep the original date not knowing how I will feel mentally, emotionally and physically or move to next year?
