Would this polka dot dress be suitable for a wedding in Ireland?

I've got this for my brother and SIL's wedding in Ireland at the end of the summer. My friend has said I shouldn't wear white when I showed it to her but it's polka dots so it's not bridal!

Personally I wouldn't wear anything remotely white especially if family. It is a lovely dress but more suited to the evening reception imo. Weddings in Ireland tend to be dressier affairs.

Definitely not. Too white and too short.

DaphneDahlia · Yesterday 21:11

I say that it’s fine. I don’t get it when people clutch pearls if someone wears white in their outfit. It’s not like the guests will be confused who the bride is. Unless the guest wears a long white dress 🤷‍♀️. If you’re still a bit worried wear black shoes, bag and accessories.

Overthebow · Yesterday 21:11

It’s not really a wedding suitable dress.

It's white and quite short in my opinion for a wedding. I wouldn't wear it if I were you.

MyArtfulGreySloth · Yesterday 21:12

Nope

PermanentTemporary · Yesterday 21:12

Unless you’re a good eight inches shorter than the model I would say it is much too short.

Also a lot of weddings in Ireland turn into 2 day affairs so it would be perfect for the 2nd day if they are doing anything.

HedgehogsOnTheWall · Yesterday 21:13

Way too short for a wedding!

justforthisnow · Yesterday 21:13

Weddings in Ireland tend to the formal side of dressing, bit like the Spanish ones if you've seen one of those. The dress you posted would not fit the bill, but would be nice for Day 2 or pub gathering.

ColadhSamh · Yesterday 21:13

Not for a wedding in Ireland. Too short. Can't believe I've typed that but it really is. As other poster said probably ok for 2nd day.

chickencaesersalad · Yesterday 21:14

No, it’s got a white base. So many other colours you could go for on this occasion.

beadystar · Yesterday 21:17

No, I’m in Ireland. Too white and too short. Lovely for the morning after brunch though.

Weedingtodo · Yesterday 21:18

It’s too short imho.

DaphneDahlia · Yesterday 21:18

Honestly if someone wore this to my wedding I would not be bothered at all that it has a white background 🤷‍♀️. Unless Irish weddings have different expectations on colours of outfits. Just don’t wear the white outfit that Sarah wore to the wedding in Derry Girls 😂😂

mushypeas94 · Yesterday 21:31

I’m Irish. Too white and too short.

queenmeadhbh · Yesterday 21:43

I think the white might pass but I would think this is noticeably too short and might have people commenting
