Are paper wedding invitations not sent out now now?

Are card wedding invitations not a thing anymore more? We’re going to a wedding next weekend and all we’ve had is a link to a website which was emailed out to everyone last year. We’re definitely invited before you ask!

I know the cost of stamps is astronomical but a proper invitation on the mantelpiece is still a lovely thing to look at. (And to remind me of the time of the actual wedding)

Last wedding, we got a proper "stiffy" invitation (from abroad), plus a website with comprehensive travel & accommodation info, and through which to respond, supply dietary needs etc. The combo worked well.

I'm old, and when we got married everything was in writing. A couple of years ago I looked through all the responses sent to my mum (a mix of preprinted cards and hand-written letters), including explanations from those unable to attend. A wee trip down memory lane!
