Wedding ring advice

I have a wedding set, so engagement ring and wedding ring. They are white gold and the wedding ring has diamonds, like a half eternity ring.

I won’t want to take my wedding ring off but worried about the metal needing plating more often and the stones getting caught, just general wear and tear I guess.

Should I think about maybe a platinum wedding ring and, as my partner has suggested, wearing the wedding ring from the set as an eternity ring?

Platinum is a different colour from white gold. I have a white gold wedding and engagement ring. They’re 12 years old and I’ve never needed to have them played again as yet.

I prefer the colour of white gold personally.

My set sounds the same OP in white gold. I've had them 14yrs and had them re plated once. They started to look a bit yellow and dull and afterwards they looked stunning and brand new again. As long as you can get them off when needed, then I don't see an issue- unless you prefer platinum?

I have a platinum engagement ring and was advised that my wedding ring should also be platinum. Platinum is much harder than gold and will wear a gold ring worn next to it.

@7238SM, no I don’t prefer platinum, just thought it might be a close colour to white gold but as @Blueuggboots has said, it isn’t.
I’d not compared the two.

Thank you @cinquanta, I definitely don’t want to risk wearing my engagement ring down.

You can't wear platinum next to gold, that will damage your gold rings. Either get a single platinum ring and just wear that, or wear the rings you have. Just take your wedding ring off, for swimming/beach for example, or cleaning. I've had my white gold rings for 5 years and they look fine, haven't had them plated.
