Ok, so myself and my significant other of many years have finally set a date and booked a venue. I should preface this by telling you that, as much as I really want to be married, I have no excitement for an actual wedding and so we are having what I have recently learned to be called a ‘micro wedding’! There will be 8-10 of us in total, including bride and groom, just very immediate family. It will be a ceremony and a meal and that is all; honestly I suffer terribly with nerves and anxiety and the thought of a wedding just makes me feel queasy! We are however holding it in a really lovely setting, probably if I’m honest, somewhere way too nice for a ‘micro wedding’ but we thought we’ve waited so many years to actually marry that we may as well do it somewhere nice!
So, I need a dress! But here’s the thing, I’m short and very plump 😆 around 5’2 ish and around a uk size 20. The tops of my arms are horrible so I can’t have anything that will show them off and unfortunately I do just carry my weight everywhere. My legs are big. My tummy’s big. My arms are big. The only thing that isn’t that big is my bust 😆 I am fully aware that my figure in a white dress for people to look at is one of the things making me want to vomit at the thought of a wedding, and I am also 40.
In summery, a dress for a plus size girl to suit a very low key wedding but in a beautiful setting. The weather will be warm by the time of the wedding however it is early summer so not the most amount of time to get things sorted either!
