Hi all!

Very recently engaged (xmas day) and feeling a bit clueless about the whole aspect of wedding planning. I have 4 venues that I like, should I book to go and visit them all? What should I be looking out for whilst visiting the venues? I would like a December 2028 wedding, is that too far away? Any other tips and tricks welcome.

Thanks so much in advance!

Local register office. Book a meal at a local restaurant for the small wedding party.

Separate big party for friends and family. You'll save £££.

Yes I have also been thinking of this too, seems like we would save a lot of money!

Once you mention wedding, venues see £ signs.
It doesn't have to be a register office - it could be a church.
Register offices can be tiny but it's an excuse to keep it small.

Budget?
Headcount?
Do you need accommodation?
Cheaper accommodation nearby?
Transport to and from venue?
How many on the head table?
Table layout?
Any elderly or disabled guests?
Dietary requirements?
Evening entertainment?
Are children invited? Do they need entertaining/childcare?

Why would you wait 3 years to get married?
Why not do something smaller and simpler and marry this December instead?

(Back in the 90s we were married after 6 months, and my DB did similar just before covid.)

  1. Remember it's a marriage, not just a wedding.

I think 2028 is too far away personally. You’ve decided to get married so why not just go for it?

Have a look around the venues you’ve chosen but also think about other venues in your area.

One of my DFs recently got married in our local Civic Centre and we had a fabulous day. She had ordered in great catering, there was free parking and a hotel nearby.

Don’t worry about your Wedding being good for Insta. If you think about your guests first, then everyone will relax, enjoy your Wedding and be talking about it for a long time to come.
