Struggling to Pick Wedding Shoes – Comfort vs Style?

I’m getting married soon and totally stuck on wedding shoes. I love the look of elegant heels, but I’m worried I won’t last the whole day in them. On the other hand, comfy flats feel too casual for the dress. For those of you who’ve been through this – did you pick comfort or style for your big day, and did you regret it later?

Pick ones you love and also have a pair of flats on hand - the latter don't need to be new if you don't want to buy twice.

I wore delicate sparkly silver sandals for the ceremony and pictures then changed into red patent high heeled Mary Jane's before the meal. 17 years later I still occasionally wear the red shoes, they were comfy and perfect for dancing.

Got it, thanks for the tip! I’ll definitely keep a comfy pair of flats handy just in case.

That sounds lovely! I like the idea of switching it up—your red Mary Janes sound both fun and practical, and it’s sweet you still wear them after all these years.

My DD bought white Toms (canvas type plimsole) which she customised.
You couldnt see them as she walked down the aisle due to her dress but she showed everyone after.
Dd couldnt face wearing heels.
So imo you can wear anything, if you do want to wear heels for the ceremony take a pair of flats.
As MOB I wore heels, kicked them off under the table during the meal, had a pair of flip-flops in my bag for dancing 💃

The issue is, if you wear heels for your ceremony and have a floor length dress, and then change to flats, you'll be tripping over/ stepping on the dress and the hem will get filthy and probably torn.
I would always go for a low to mid heel for the whole thing. Get memory foam inserts for comfort. This gives you and extra couple of inches in height, is comfy for dancing and saves your dress!

If you're wearing a long dress I'd definitely go for comfort as they won't really show...
Maybe a pair of Converse? Or something similar...
