Is it usual to give engagement presents these days when most couples are already living together and have set up a home?

If it was your adult child and you would be planning to give some cash towards the costs of the wedding would you give a big gift at this stage aswell?

I was thinking flowers and champagne?

flowers and champagne sounds lovely!

I will do that and put anything else towards the wedding.

When my adult children got engaged we gave some fizz/flowers and reasturant voucher. Then put money towards the weddings, one isn't married yet.

We also said we would give money towards the wedding when the time came so they knew and could add it to their budget.
