Do people still decorate the going away car?

Is it still a thing to decorate the going away car with banners/balloons/old tin cans? I haven’t been to many weddings recently and not ones where they drove away.

If u are contemplating doing this id ask the couple. If it's their car thry can say yay or nay. Last wedding i went to they didn't drive away either..

Most couples stay until the end these days so I would assume no car- I have seen it at some weddings though (10+ years ago) so you could check with the couple or someone else closely involved.

I was married 15yrs ago and many of us including the best man stayed in the same hotel. I had recalled seeing photos of my parents car with balloons/just married etc and assumed the best man would do the same to our car for the next morning when we drove off. He hadn't.

At the time I was a bit annoyed that no one had bothered. Looking back, I don't know if I'd have a pic of that on the wall and now think its a bit tacky. I've actually never seen it done in real life.

We didn’t go anywhere after our wedding, stayed at the hotel and then went on holiday a few days later.

Would have been well annoyed if someone had “decorated” our car, we only got it a week before the wedding and it was new.

I’ve now done the obvious thing and checked with the couple, They say they would enjoy a decorated car so that settles it!
