Wedding for YOU

we’re getting married June 2026 and decided to get married in the church then have a reception (casual party no sit down meal but buffet, bar, DJ etc) then soon realised nice venues only care if you’re having the wedding there and forking out £££.

I’ve been so stressed contacting venues for the past 2 weeks and decided today it’s not even what we really want anyway, so scraped the whole idea and we’re having family only at the church, a few drinks after then instead spending the money on a family holiday(moon).

Has anyone else just sacked the idea off and done your own ‘untrad’ wedding?

Still going to wear my dress, get my make up and hair done and have a photographer for all the lovely photos! Feeling so much better about the whole thing now.

What is an "unread" wedding?

@Mulledjuicetypo, I meant untraditional

Sounds bloody wonderful! You go for it. Why not hey! Have a wonderful time with zero pressure! Laugh and dance the night away and then enjoy a brilliant holiday with your family. Sounds perfect

We have done the same @26dX. Looked at a couple of venues that were ok but not really wow.
Plus due to age and health of DP’s parents and some of my family they couldn’t say if they could attend even if we had the wedding near them.

So we have booked an elopement venue, our closest friends will be there. Will still have everything that is important to us. Of course we will miss not having family there, but plan to have a party for people when we get back from honeymoon.

@Shallysallyah good luck! I just can’t justify it for the sake of other people not myself 😂
