Did you remind people to RSVP?

RSVP deadline fast approaching and still a good lot of people still to confirm if they’re coming or not.
I’ve been quite relaxed about it but one of my suppliers has just emailed asking for final numbers so I suppose it’s got to the stage that I need to know.
Is it a done thing to send reminders? Or do I just take it that if they haven’t RSVPd they’re not coming? I don’t know what I’d even say if I were texting people to ask if they’re coming!

i think it’s fine, and also kind, to send reminders. Kinder for people to reply in a timely fashion but it’s not uncommon for people to think ooh yes how lovely, I must check that and let them know, then a billion things happen. One check should be plenty though.

Definitely send a reminder - people genuinely do just forget to RSVP. Be polite but say you need final numbers. Something like

“Dear xxxx

Hope all is well. Just a little reminder as we haven’t received your RSVP to our wedding on (date). We would love you to be there to celebrate with us and would be really grateful if you could let us know by (date) as our caterers need the final numbers.

We really hope you can make it.”

If after this you don’t get responses and the deadline on the invitation has passed you can be a bit more assertive but this tends to catch most people.

Conscious that I don’t want to put people under pressure to come if they don’t want to and also conscious people will have thought “oh I’ve loads of time to reply” and then totally forgotten!
