Dress appropriate?

I’ve found a beautiful house of cb dress for my cousins wedding but not sure if it’s appropriate as I’ve not been many weddings? It’s meant to be 27 degrees now which I’m not sure whether I’ll be too hot. Bear in mind I’m 26 and not a middle aged woman wearing this dress.

Love the dress but not sure I’d want to be wearing it in 27 degrees!

I know I just assumed it would be cold but I might have to suffer it as I didn’t really like anything else as floral/ long floaty dresses are not my thing

To me that’s a black tie sexy dress, not a family wedding dress. It’s a nice dress of its type but unless your cousin is having a black tie glamorous evening wedding I absolutely wouldn’t wear it.

I’m sure you didn’t mean to be rude re middle aged women, so will ignore that bit.

Rocknrollstar · 20/06/2025 08:11

This is for a formal winter wedding. Will you be comfortable in it all day on a hot day?

DissDissOrDiss · 20/06/2025 08:12

It’s an evening dress, not a wedding guest dress. Too vampy. Would be lovely in the right scenario but a family wedding is not it.

What would be wrong with a middle aged woman wearing it if they have the confidence/ figure?! 🤣 It’s fine to add your age to the post, but maybe hold off on being judgey?

It’s a bit Morticia Addams to me and I hate the shoulder bows. I’ve seen better. I also don’t like wearing black to weddings, personal preference.

Reformation is way nicer and more stylish in my opinion https://www.thereformation.com/bridal/wedding-guest-dresses?_gl=11t2dz1g_upMQ.._gs*MQ..&gclid=Cj0KCQjwjdTCBhCLARIsAEu8bpJL2oo4w6Vr6A9rfaPXNbQ4qpuIT_vF52dMzBwt0W-KHzyIaDQ-T3saAqaCEALw_wcB&gbraid=0AAAAABnwCwd_i2QclfU1bGDMDEtnWXUoS

I’m not being judgey at all, nothing wrong with a middle aged man woman wearing it, some people on mumsnet just seem to be rude about everything so I just wanted to point out my age. I am blonde with blue eyes so I just love black lace on me that’s why I wanted the dress but I get what you mean!

What type of wedding is it, and style/size/colouring do you suit?

Perhaps we can suggest other options, it doesn’t all have to be flouncy and floaty, I’m sure you’ll find something lovely that works.

Koazy · 20/06/2025 08:16

Black lace isn’t great for a wedding unless it’s midwinter and blank tie themed.

I like it but not for a summer wedding.

chatgptsbestmate · 20/06/2025 08:21

I love your dress but I don't think it's right for a day time family wedding

Keep it and wear it to a party or evening event

Get something more daytime wedding suitable 🥰

This. Also looks like it would be a bit hot.

Screamingabdabz · 20/06/2025 08:24

Short answer - no it’s not appropriate. Neither is your ageism.

Didn’t mean it in a rude way 🥰

I’d say no.
But I guess it depends what other people will be wearing op.
It’s not summery or very classy.

TheSlantedOwl · 20/06/2025 08:48

You’ll be a middle age woman one day (if you’re lucky). Then you’ll see how sexism hits doubly with ageism.

The dress is gorgeous but not right for a wedding.

TinkerbellStarbright · 20/06/2025 08:55

I would look for something else. It’s too vampy, too heavy looking and the shoulder bows make it look too fussy and cheapen it in my opinion.

Dandelionsand4leafclover · 20/06/2025 08:55

Nice dress but wrong occassion.

Apothecary266 · 20/06/2025 08:57

Nope. Apart from anything else, you don't wear black to a wedding.

SassyCrab · 20/06/2025 10:00

I’ve gone for this dress instead which I assume is okay?!
