Bridal hair cost

I'm getting married this summer, it's pretty low key but I think I'm going to splash out and get someone to curl my hair because if I ever try to do it it takes me 3 hours, I have burned fingers and ears, and I end up in a strop.

It's in West London. I looked online and some people charge upwards of £350!!! Is this normal? I don't want to go for a cheap option and end up looking like a turnip. Has anyone got a price comparison or a recommendation of how to find someone?

Do you have time to go to a salon the morning of your wedding for a standard blow dry appointment? If you don’t want to risk a random not doing it nicely go a few times between now and your wedding, treat yourself whenever you have a night out or something, and then book with that stylist on the day.

Doughnut100 · 23/05/2025 15:05

Unfortunately no, the register office is at 11am and I think I need my hair finished by 9am. Good idea though. Should have booked a later slot for the ceremony!

I know weddings & London prices but £350 is ridiculous! My salon charges between £30 and £50 for bouncy blow dry or curls, depending on the level of stylist.

If it's just curls you want and not a full on wedding hair up-do, then see if there's a mobile hairdresser who will come to you for 8am. Post ok local Facebook group for recommendations. Don't mention it's a wedding, just say 'special occasion.' If you want full bridal hair you need to be honest though as it will take longer and cost more!

Doughnut100 · 23/05/2025 15:20

Yes it's as soon as you say 'wedding' the price doubles doesn't it! I just want curls. Good idea I will look for a mobile hairdresser and hide my dressin the next room 😂

This means your hair stylist has to get up early, get themselves ready, be at your wedding venue by 7:30 because that’s when you probably need to start getting your hair and makeup done, then helped into your dress, pictures, and before you know it you’ll need to be walking down to get married. I had my hair pinned back and curled with a nice clip in and that took an n hour. It’s not going to be quick.

I get my hair out up regularly for events. Even an elaborate style with extensions and accessories should be under £100. God knows who you've asked but that's not even remotely normal.

Iloveeverycat · 24/05/2025 14:01

Don't say it's for a wedding it will be cheaper.

Hattermadness · 24/05/2025 15:29

I've recently bought Tymo curl pro (i think that's what it's called) and honestly its a game changer! I've never been able to curl my hair, and now I can! It's amazing, doesn't tangle your hair and the curls stay in. I was dubious buying something from an ad on Facebook but honestly it's the best thing I've ever bought. I can curl my hair in less than 10 minutes and it lasts for at least another 2 days xxx

Mumoftwoandcats · 24/05/2025 19:04

Could you get someone to do your hair for you, but not mention its your wedding? I have found that the minute it's a bridal issue, the price shoots up! Good luck, and all the best with your coming nuptials x

Chocolatecustardcreamsrule · 24/05/2025 19:10

I paid £40 for my bridal hair, I just asked for a messy bun and went to the salon the morning of my wedding. I had my foils done the day before so she gave me a blow dry and told me to not touch it, on the day it took 30 minutes. It’s expensive because the hairdresser losses so much business with traveling and spending time there, on a Saturday often too when they are busiest and brides tend to be extra picky and the hair needs to stay in all day so it takes longer. My hairdresser doesn’t do weddings for that reason.

TiredAH · 24/05/2025 20:44

I went for an updo the morning of my wedding. Didnt mention the word.
Was normal salon price.

Beautifulweeds · 24/05/2025 21:29

Yes way too much! Shop around, don't mention bridal as curling is curling. X

Might be regional? I’m in the south and suspect it would cost more than £100 here, judging by the cost if a normal cut and blow dry.

Missingpop · 25/05/2025 18:54

Could you try heated rollers & get a friend to help put them in early morning & leave them in for as long as possible you could do a few trial runs in the lead up to the wedding. I know it’s crippling the prices they add the second you mention a wedding x

vincettenoir · 25/05/2025 18:57

I paid £180 for hair plus make-up.

Rycbar · 25/05/2025 19:26

It cost me £250 for me and my two bridesmaids for full wedding make up and up dos.

anon2022anon · 25/05/2025 19:30

I'm in east Yorkshire and it's costing me £72, in the salon, not my home.

Try having a look on Facebook for budget wedding in west London groups or similar- a lot of local stylists will be posting on there.

If you do want to try one of these OP, I can send you one! They’re very good but my hair is too long for this model now so I have a bigger one! I don’t mind sending it!

Cazs818 · 25/05/2025 19:39

Firstly congratulations , definitely shop around I was having a nightmare finding some one to do mine in October prices were way over my budget

ended up finding someone to do my hair , makeup & lashes for £170 coming to me at home , last thing you want on the day is any extra stress . I compromised on other things so I could budget for my hair and make up at least
