MOH booked activities for my hen do I said no to

long story short, my MOH is best friend, been friends for 20 + years. I put her in charge of my hen do and was happy to be surprised! However before anything was booked we went through a website and I said what stuff I was happy with and stuff that absolutely no way I wanted to do.

any way I have found out by pure accident the main event on the Friday. It is something I said no to! Without being super ungrateful as everyone has paid ect I am genuinely upset! I 100% said no to this and she has also added something else to it which I wouldn't like but has said if I don't do it, don't worry she will. I really just feel like she has booked this for her self!

has this happened to anyone else before? I'm a very outgoing person, so would never cause a scene and will still have a good time but I'm really upset and actually angry as hopefully ( lol) this will be my first and ONLY hen do

Depends on what it is—skydiving? She’s out of order. Cocktail mixing class? Maybe okay.

Gillyyy · 19/05/2025 20:34

Did she write anything down when you went through it together? She’s maybe forgotten what you said for each thing. I feel like we need to know the activity to know if you’re being unreasonable!

If it’s white water rafting or paintball or something you’d hate I think YANBU. Or cocktail making if you’re teetotal.

If it’s flower crown making or going to the spa or something I think it’s probably quite standard for a hen party and YABU. It’s hard to find activities to suit everyone in the group and especially in an unfamiliar location.

Yeah depends what it is really

PopeJoan2 · 23/05/2025 01:17

It is hilarious that she said she would do it if you don’t want to. I wonder if she’d offer to step in if you got cold feet on the wedding day.

Probably a stripper. If you don't want to take part, she will, lol. Although cheesy, it's probably typical and highly amusing if you aren't in the firing seat!

This is what sprung to my mind too.

shame she’s planned something you said no to. I’d go along with it and let her do the main bit, but pull her aside ahead of time and tell her how you feel.

RawBloomers · 23/05/2025 03:35

I would consider that a huge betrayal. If I’d said no because it was something I was morally opposed to - like a stripper - I would tell her she needs to cancel it and if she didn’t I would not go. If it was just something I don’t enjoy I would do it for the sake of the other guests.

I would also sack her from the MoH role. But I can’t imagine having a friend good enough to be MoH who would do something like this.

Yes I am probably the only person who thinks that if you have to go through a list of what is acceptable or what isnt it is just easier to book it yourself

Thisshirtisonfire · 23/05/2025 05:00

I'd be pretty annoyed because there's things like swimming or riding quad bikes.. that i just would not in a million years ever do. So I'd have to just sit there and watch other people do it on my own hen night. And if I'd specifically said before hand not to book that because I didn't like it.. I'd be doubly pissed off
I arranged my own hen night to avoid all that tho.

jay55 · 23/05/2025 05:04

I’d ask if it was a joke and what the real plan was.

ZenNudist · 23/05/2025 05:08

That's pretty low of her. Refuse (nicely) to take part and take yourself off to do something else you want to do with some of the hens who also don't want to do it. Before now, as a hen, I've paid for activities I haven't wanted to do and then avoided doing the activity with like minded others. It doesn't have to be a big deal. Those who want to do it can crack on and have fun. Usually the bride would get pick on activities but it can't be the first hen where the bride didn't want to do something.
