How to give a wedding gift

I I'm going to a wedding and there's a wedding gift list. Any problem is that this list has been sent learned by email to a number of guests I do look down the list and pick what you want from the items on the list. Do I get this way how can you keep track of what people are ordering because if six people decide on one particular item from the list the no going to have six of the same item so when you're doing something like this how do you keep track of the items so you don't end up with a dozen sets of saucepans because if I and 11 other people think let's get saucepans then they'll have 12 sets of saucepans how do these things work I've sets of saucepan side of these things work

Who has sent the list? I would email them and let them know what you are thinking of buying. It's a bit remiss of them not to let you know what to do!

Often the list is held by a company, John Lewis for example and someone buys the saucepans and they are taken off the list.
sometimes it is a virtual list held by a wedding company but you tick you are buying saucepans and they get taken off the list.
Is there no sign of the list being held by anyone? Either an individual, or department store or online company?
