Help needed on wedding guest outfit for 7 year old

Normally this of course would not be an issue but the wedding is in a couple of weeks, on the top of a hill, mostly outdoor with some shelter in a barn that’s been decorated but as far as I know won’t be heated.

No idea what the weather will be like and therefore what to put her in!

Am mostly struggling with the arm area - most party dresses are short sleeve and I could put a cardigan over but then a lot of the sleeves are quite full and bunch up funny at the top of the arms. I was thinking maybe a fur coat but then she might be too hot with it on and too cold with it off. I thought of a long sleeve dress perhaps under the coat but can’t find one that’s wedding-y as opposed to quite casual and made of jersey or cord.

can anyone share some warm wedding outfit ideas?

vest / long sleeve top under the dress and warm tights? Def a warm cardi!

Do you think a long sleeve top under a short sleeve dress would look ok and smart enough? This is the dress she has asked for:

I’m happy to buy it as we have another wedding later in the summer plus sibling bday parties etc through the summer so it will get use. Just don’t want it to not work for this one

Top of a hill - still snow on ours in Scotland! I vote for a lovely warm coat that she can always take off!

Given those sleeves, how about a cape?

Newbie887 · 18/03/2025 15:22

Cape is great idea…will look into it. I’ve found some lovely posh furry jacket things but they’re so expensive for what I can imagine will just be one wear. Will have a look on eBay for both tonight…

A woollen short sleeved spencer underneath.
A cape/coat for over the top.
Or a fluffy sleeveless vest.
Leggings, strong leather shoes with buckles.

Monsoon do nice little girls occasion clothes and they do capes x

Next always has pretty party cardigans.

I usually put my DD in velvet leggings and a sparkly top, plus the aforementioned cardigan and a sparkly headband.

Another vote for a little cape with that dress. I'd look on Vinted, it's the sort of thing most people will use once or twice, so nearly-new, but used prices.
