Vegas Wedding - yes or no?

My partner and I have decided to sort of elope in Vegas (April 2026). I can't really be bothered to plan a big UK wedding, I can't deal with both sides of the family asking why we haven't invited 'xxx' who we haven't seen / heard from in years and we're both not overly sentimental so a romantic traditional wedding doesn't really seem to suit us. I'm close to my family but at the same time, it wouldn't upset me to not have them present on the day. We've extended the invite to everyone so may have a couple of friends / some family members join us for a holiday and a celebration, we will also do something to celebrate when we return. Did anyone else take this approach to a wedding or get married in Vegas? Any regrets? Did it pan out how you expected it to when you were there? I don't want to come to regret not doing it here but feel as though it would be more stress free.

My wife and I were married in Vegas 23 years ago. We still think it was the best thing we ever did. We had booked a holiday there anyway, and decided a week before that we would get married there. It took a phone call and a couple of emails. We laughed about how inexpensive it was - hired an "Elvis", arranged flowers, photos, a video and (amazingly for the time) a webcast, for the princely sum of £243! We are just as married as if we'd paid £20,000, and we had ZERO stress. I really can't get my head around why people go into huge debt and get all wound up just for one day, trying to impress people who mostly don't give a hoot.

We literally got married in Vegas last September and have zero regrets! We loved the whole day :) our parents did come but we didn’t even invite anyone else haha, just had a big party when we came back. 100% go for it!
