Engagement ring help

Hi. We seem to be going the ring shopping back to front. My BF is adamant he wants us to have matching wedding rings - exactly the same and has fallen in love with these. I’m happy to have these but struggling to find an engagement ring I like that fits around it. I usually wear chunky rings, so the idea of wearing a solitaire until the wedding just isn’t me. We’re on a small budget as also buying an house at the same time, so custom is out. Any ideas?

How about a narrow eternity band with princess cut (square) stones as your engagement ring? There’s no reason you HAVE to have a solitaire.

An eternity band might sit alongside that wedding band.

You also don’t HAVE to wear it after the wedding, or you can move it to the other hand.

Something like this.

What’s your budget?

You don’t have to have an engagement ring. If you don’t even like the styles just skip it and wear your wedding ring after the wedding.

Also my engagement ring is a single princess solitaire on a wide band and that would actually sit next to those! Don’t know why I didn’t think of that as well as the eternity band suggestion 🤣🤣

Totally agree with @Completelyjo - just don't get one! In the future when you can afford it maybe he can get you an eternity ring for your tenth wedding anniversary or something.
My own ring is very simple and we got the wedding rings to match it - simple concave band with a few very small diamonds spaced around it. My mother always said it wasn't a 'proper' ring because it didn't have your typical central stone but I love it and is much more my style.

We went shopping for an engagement ring when we were on Skye, ended up buying matching wedding rings. Not sure what my(now) husband's brain was thinking... But never got the engagement ring ever. 2nd time for both of us and in late50/early 60 so not really bothered.
