Small Wedding Ideas

Hi. I am looking for ideas on places to get married. I think I only want Bride, Groom and 2 children to attend. Somewhere that is chilled out where the kids can play, accommodation, meal etc.
I have been looking at the Lake District or somewhere with a Beach.
We aren’t fussy people, we want it to be special but don’t want it costing a fortune. I will probably just get a white dress from ASOS or somewhere, this is how laid back we are. We aren’t religious at all.
We have even considered a Registry office wedding, are there any nice places down on Bournemouth Coast as we are going on holiday down there in April.

We are from the north east so any suggestions up here too would be fab!

Many thanks!

The Torbay registry office has a ceremony room at Cockington Court, the ceremony room looks a bit plain on the website but the house and gardens are beautiful.

There are loads of lovely register offices and hotels that do weddings. However for a legal wedding you will need two adult witnesses with you, so you'll need to arrange that. Sounds like your children are still young so won't be able to do it.

We went to a very small wedding in a beach hut on herne bay pier it was quirky and fabulous. Had afternoon tea in the hut afterwards.

Paignton registry office (used to be at least) is nice. Book 3 of 4 days down there, there's a new hotel that's meant to be decent

I personally looked at Gretna as its traditional, they can arrange witnesses too

Aww thank you, I have just looked, it looks lovely but it would be another 2 hours to travel for us. My partner now thinks somewhere in the lakes would be best.

I looked at Gretna too, but I don’t think it’s what I have in mind, too many people I think 😅 Thank you though!

How about a nice hotel like Miller Howe Hotel or the Samling Hotel.
Great views, registered for weddings and for a really small group it should be affordable.

Other venues..
Grasmere Hotel
Lodore Falls
Broadoaks Country House

Carlisle and Penrith Registry Offices both look nice.
