Did you have additional entertainment during this time? Eg secret singer, magician etc etc.

If so was it worth it?

I think people appreciate the chance to chat to their friends and relatives in this space TBC.

Assuming it is a short break between the meal finishing and the evening starting (approx 1-1.5 hours) then just let people do their own thing. If at a hotel where people are staying, they may take the opportunity to freshen up or have a break. Otherwise people will take the opportunity to catch up with people they don’t see too often.

No.
Not have I seen that at any wedding I've been a guest at.

That is the time to go round and talk to people, or just chat with the people at your table. It's the time to stretch your legs.

If you think it is too long a time for people to be able to chat to each other, then think about having the ceremony later in the day.

We have a table top magician at the wedding breakfast, then in the approx 2 hours between then and the evening we have 3 different options - gamer bus for the kids (or big kids!). Kareoke in one room, and board games in another. There is a 3rd space for guests to chat and mingle. So plenty of options.
