Planning a wedding in Mexico

Has anybody got married in Mexico, Playa del Carmen?

We are going to book hotel&flights through Tui and want to get married away from the hotel so have found a wedding planner who has given us a really reasonable quote.

Would love to hear about anybody's experiences or tips and tricks!

Just don’t. It’s monstrously expensive for your guests, unless you are paying for everybody to fly and stay there.

I had my honeymoon there and it was lovely. Honestly though the weddings were like conveyor belts, I saw eight weddings in one day, just didn't seem very special. If you are getting married away from the hotel it might be better.

@LoserWinner we're having a tiny wedding of just parents and siblings and they're all aware of it and happy to come
@janfebmar87 we've been a few times and got engaged there. That's why we are doing it away from the hotel. Don't like the thought of getting married around hotel guests so opting for a private location

Go there for the honeymoon
Don t force your family and friends to spend so much ££, AL, time, energy etc.
Unless you re a billionaire, it’s so tacky and vulgar.

@nfkl thanks for your opinion. As I've previously said it's a very small wedding 9 people total and that's including us and our 2 children. It's also only £2k per person for them to attend which they're more than happy to pay
