Any non trad 2025 brides here?

I'm getting married in July & feel a bit lonely in my wedding journey.

I can't seem to find my "people"

I really don't mean to offend anyone at all I promise no judgement!

But i've noticed there are certain types.

  1. You have the standard big wedding, that is just another replica of what they've seen online.
  1. This but on a much smaller budget
  1. The alternative weddings
  1. The elopement/destination wedding
  1. The registry office / restaurant wedding

I feel i fit in somewhere between 2&5 with elements of both but still struggling to find my style as I cant find anything to compare to online.

Anyone else feeling the same? I'd love a fellow bride to chat to xxx

Hiya, OP. We saw you didn't have much luck posting your thread in the Relationships topic, so we've moved it to our Weddings board now, where you might have more luck finding your tribe...

I'm a June 24 bride but see some similarities, so happy to discuss anything that might be useful to you.

We had a registry office wedding wth 7 people (us, both immediate families, plus one friend to take some photos) followed by lunch in a fancy-ish restaurant. A few months later we had a ceremony, reception, sit down dinner and DJ set for 50 people in the house of an organic farm. So pretty traditional, except there was no white dress, bridal party, hen or stag nights, special decor, favours etc and that all kept the costs down. We opted to pay more for good quality food and drink, and all costs (clothes, flowers, photogaphy etc) included it came to 10k.

Both days were wonderful and are absolute highlights in my memory.

August 2025 here. I used to run an event planning business and did a lot of weddings so my own wedding is going to be fairly individual and not traditional.

I'm not having any bridesmaids.
I'm not having a 'proper' wedding cake but having a champagne tower instead.
No bridesmaids.
Fairly late wedding 430pm with no evening guests.

There is definitely a 'look' and style for fashionable weddings which I'm not going for although my venue is uniquely beautiful.

We have family members travelling from overseas so want to ensure the day (including venue) feels special to them and worth the travel.

Not spending big bucks as there's lots that isn't overly important to me (and I can do myself due to having the event business) so found the venue and hustled on the price.
Centrepieces I'll do myself. I doubt I'm having flowers myself but if I do they will be simple but I'm leaning towards not having any.

Where are you heading with your ideas and plans?
