Engagement ring help and ideas

We are getting married. Very low key wedding. Seconds marriages. My engagement ring that I loved which was a large grey diamond in platinum and a simple plat band. But I have given this to DD and we need something new.

DP had a gold band that together with his wife’s were put together and moulded together.

DP said he would like a titanium band and has found one that is grey with a black band.

I have thought about using my grandmothers ring - pre 1940s it’s 18 ct gold with a tiny emerald and surrounded by teeny tiny diamonds. DP took it into the jewellers today and they can make it bigger to fit hurrah and it wouldn’t be expensive.

We’d like the same metal for our bands. But I’m worried titanium next to gold would wear it away. The gold could be dipped to make it white. Oddly the middle bit with the stone appears like silver platinum coloured (?). But I think it would need to be dipped regularly. Is it possibly it could be ‘ ‘blinged’ in some way as styles have changed? And I don’t think it will match DP’s idea of what he would like for a band. I’m happy to go without an engagement ring but would be nice to have one as way. Or we could get a new one.

Any ideas?

Pop the engagement ring onto another finger once married or only wear it til the wedding?

I’d want to wear them together I think if I have one. I’m 75% want an engagement ring and 100% not wanting to buy brand brand new so vintage, or blinging this one makes sense.

I could abandon the idea of titanium matching bands and to do something like have an eternity ring as a band (never had an eternity ring!) 🤣 but maybe that is not the done thing. Tradition is a bit out the window on this one.

Your dp choice of ring sounds incongruous with your grandmother's ring. The eras and styles seem completely wrong together. If you like the ring I'd just forgo the matching bands with his and get an eternity style if you like that looks good with your grandmother's ring
