We have a sit down meal in the day, pizza food truck at night served buffet style. 60 cupcakes and a single tier cake and an ice cream van in the evening. Have now found 1 person is dairy free thats attending all day.

I can get round this as i need to get my eldest to run to the chippy 2 minutes walk away or his brother. His autistic and will not eat most things so tnis is his safe option snd i am happy to do so for dairy free or request a pizza without cheese.

My worry is we have 60 pizzas and about 70 to 80 evening guests if they all attend. Some people didnt confirm so we are not sure. Dont want to over cater but worried about not having enough. Would you add a buffet or nibbles. Fh says not to but im not convinced.

Could you have someone on stand by to go and get buffet stuff if it is looking like you need it? If not, i would be tempted to get stuff. But I always over cater!

70 to 80 people in total for the evening? Or are there more day guests to add to that number?

YouveGotAFastCar · 15/08/2024 20:12

We REALLY over-catered our evening, and we had less pizzas than you. Most people won’t be hungry enough for a whole pizza to themselves after a sit down meal and snacking on cake.

You’ve got this. Don’t stress!

70 yo 80 is total for evening. Keeping it smallidh although its grown a bit since we did the head count. Nearest shop is a local spar so not alot of choice but posdibly some. Also a pizza and kebab shop, chinease, indian and chippy within 5 minute walk

How big are the pizzas? If they are 6" some people might still be a bit hungry, if they are 10"+ I think you'll be fine. It's bloody rude that some haven't been courteous enough to let you know.

We have been together 15 years and i am definetly the over thinker in the relationship. Would it be sensible to just get crisps to put out? I know our venue will sell some behind the bar but i could put some out and include some free from options.

... if they are coming
(No idea what happened to last bit of my post!)

Seaweed42 · 15/08/2024 20:35

What time are the evening guests invited for?
What size are the pizzas?

ForBetterForWorseOrNot · 15/08/2024 20:54

Evening from 6 some of those numbers will be kids and a few may leave early pizza between 7 and 9 we think. Doesnt say about size but they look a little bigger than individual. Just dont eant to over do it and waste money we dont need to but also dont want people going with out. We have been to a couple weddings where buffet was awful and im worried about it getting too hot as well being a marque.

After an afternoon sit down meal no one is going to eat a whole pizza to themselves.
That number sounds fine.
Although I don't think I've ever eaten much from an evening buffet at a wedding if I've been there the whole day as usually I'm still stuffed. And I'm a greedy bugger.
I'd be too full for a slice of pizza but I'd probably appreciate some little nibbles
Id ask for the pizza to be sliced smaller than usual. Buffet psychology. Means people will take less and those who are stuffed don't have to waste a whole slice if they just want a couple of bites
