My point is, it's not the obvious that is the most romantic.

We had this:

Extract from The Amber Spyglass – Philip Pullman
I will love you forever; whatever happens. Till I die and after I die, and when I find my way out of the land of the dead, I’ll drift about forever, all my atoms, till I find you again… I’ll be looking for you, every moment, every single moment. And when we do find each other again, we’ll cling together so tight that nothing and no one’ll ever tear us apart. Every atom of me and every atom of you… we’ll live in birds and flowers and dragonflies and pine trees and in clouds and in those little specks of light you see floating in sunbeams… and when they use our atoms to make new lives, they won’t just be able to take one, they’ll have to take two, one of you and one of me, we’ll be joined so tight…

Although this is lovely too, it's a great series of books

What a wonderful thread. So many gems here. We had 'Today I marry my friend...' written as a huge poem on a huge canvas by an artist friend.

I can't recall the rest of it but will dig out a photo later.

WB Yeats Cloths of Heaven..

Had I the heavens’ embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet:
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.

I love this:

Love is by definition an unmerited gift; being loved without meriting it is the very proof of real love. If a woman tells me: I love you because you're intelligent, because you're decent, because you buy me gifts, because you don't chase women, because you do the dishes, then I'm disappointed; such love seems a rather self-interested business. How much finer it is to hear: I'm crazy about you even though you're neither intelligent nor decent, even though you're a liar, an egotist, a bastard.

My son has something from Terry Prwtchett's Discworld books. Can't remember exactly what but it was fab and not the usual run of the mill.
He's a fan too so it wasn't random

Oh the places you'll go by Dr Seuss

I came on to say that. Smile Young couple who love travelling. They changed the words to 'the places we'll go'.

We had Seamus Heaney's Scaffolding. My STBXH stupidly gave it to the woman he was cheating with all done in calligraphy for Christmas. The idiot thought it was relevant because they both worked in Construction!!!!! He wasn't very bright but what a betrayal
