Uk Wedding or Abroad

Hi. We are wanting to have a small wedding in the UK, only us and our two young boys (1 & 4), we don’t want it to cost a fortune as I can’t bring myself to spend that much money on a wedding.
Can anyone recommend a nice place to get married, registry offices, tree houses, beaches etc - not Gretna, that is a definite no. We live in the North East but happy to travel further.
We would be happy to make it into a holiday, with things nearby for the kids. Being together as a family is the most important thing to us.

Any suggestions of weddings abroad too, only ones where you can do the legal part abroad too, I can’t be chewed with having to go the registry office to legally do it when we get back.

Any ideas are much appreciated. 🤩

Why don’t you look for a place you would like to go on holiday and then see what wedding venues are available?

You talk about going away the four of you but you will need two adult witnesses - what’s the plan there?

Getting legally married abroad is a right royal faff I genuinely don’t understand why people bother unless they are from that country originally (when there is less faff anyway).

That might be a good starting point.

Aww we aren’t bothered about who the witnesses are, less hassle than upsetting family members.

I think the thing that appealed to me about getting wed abroad was that we would get a hot beach holiday out of it too, that’s the only reason why.

I just can’t bring myself to spend a lot, but I want it to be more special than a bog standard registry office.
