Honeymoon Help

Getting married early next year with annual leave booked for a honeymoon in April. We cannot agree where to go at all!

Fiancé doesn’t love travel, finds it stressful and would really like to go somewhere we have been before, or on a similar type of trip. I want to go somewhere that feels a bit more “honeymooney” and ideally isn’t somewhere we have already been.

FH keeps suggesting Venice but we have been there 3 times and he even lived there for a term at uni! Amalfi coast was floated but tbh I would like to avoid Italy as I have been to so much of it already I don’t think it will feel special. We got engaged in Bologna.

Our typical holidays are city breaks with lots of lay ins, down time, reading, stopping for coffee and eating nice food. I’m happy to go with this because we will have a nice time but I still want it to feel different to our other holidays. Long haul is off the table because FH hates the faff of it and tbh it is out of budget as I want a new kitchen next year.

Where can we go?!

Cruise? From Venice?

@Tinselunderthetv good suggestion but I think we would both hate a cruise. I get sea sick and my fiance would hate having to be on someone else’s agenda.

Croatia? I’ve never been but I’ve heard lovely things, and it might fit your bill.

One of the islands as a compromise? Sicily? Sardinia?

Seville? Granada
not a honeymoon but ours first holiday which I remember fondly was a driving holiday starting and finishing in Malaga and visiting Tarifa, Tangier (Morocco), the Costa de la Luz, Cadiz , Jerez, Seville and Granada. Quite busy but all of those places would be nice for a few days.

Thank you for the responses! We looked at Croatia this afternoon but I think we are going to go for Sicily @jolies1. Can’t argue with how beautiful it is and we have agreed to book a few nice activities like wine tasting to make it feel special…and that our 2025 holiday will be one of the Scandinavian countries.

We talked about it a bit more and turns out it’s less that he is worried about going to other countries and more that he knows we will have a nice holiday in Italy because we always have. I think it hails from a slightly disappointing trip we took to Vienna one year. Anyway a compromise has been reached!
