My fiance and I are getting married September 2025 and we can't decide on a colour. My fiance says he doesn't mind so not much help. I've thought of

Pink and grey
Dark Blue and yellow
Purple and silver
Red and gold

The first colour will be the colour of the bridesmaid dresses

Anyone help please

I saw one recently theme for bridesmaids were grey. Bouquets were shades of orange. Absolutely stunning.

we Didn’t have a colour scheme, but I’d first base it on the decor of the venue, and then look for bridesmaid dresses to see what dresses you and the bridesmaid’s chose together, based on their colouring and what they like to wear. Choosing a random colour scheme now seems a bit odd to me!

Not sure if this is a totally backwards way to have done things, but we picked DH's suit first. He went for a navy morning suit and blue tweed waistcoat. So we then used that to pull out colours for the rest of the wedding. So bridesmaid were in a light blue, flowers were lots of creams, greens and blue holly / thistles, plus some bluey lilacs.

I really wanted a pinky/champagne colour and pastel yellow - DH refused the pink colour and said we had to have colours we both liked. We settled for pastel blue (like a baby blue) and pastel yellow. The men had grey suits with pale yellow/gold waistcoats and cravats. Bridesmaids dresses were baby blue. My bouquet was yellow and blue roses, just yellow for the bridesmaids then centrepieces were a mixture if blue and yellow flowers. Our venue had a very neutral colour scheme and I would say you need to think about that, one venue we looked at everything was dark purple!

Oh I also had white calla lillies in my bouquet!

My favourite colour scheme is all white/ivory for bride and bridesmaids. It seemed very popular in the 60's and also I've noticed at royal weddings. I saw Lady Sarah Armstrong Jones wedding photos yesterday and it looked beautiful. Then I realised Diana, Kate, Zara, Meghan and Eugenie had all done it too.

I had champagne for the bridesmaids and I had an Ivory dress. Husband had a brown suit with champagne waist coat. Flowers were all ivory roses and lillies

I think it's easier to choose the style/theme first and then the colour goes with that.

So will it be Rustic? Chiq? Classic? Modern?

Also what's the venue?

September 2025!! Seriously, don’t choose now. In a year or 18 months look at bridesmaid dresses and then base colour scheme on dress you all most like then. Do not waste 2 years of your life on this!

I agonised over a colour scheme (seems silly now the wedding is over!) But in the end we went for Ivory/grey/green and it looked really beautiful

Ivory - my dress and flower girls and also some of the decoration/flowers

Grey - suits and bridesmaids dresses

Green - lots of greenery in the bouquets

Excitedbride2b · 28/09/2023 10:07

I agree with what everyone is saying, I didn't want to make a decision so quickly but suppliers etc are all asking what my colours are so they can match it.

Have you booked your wedding venue yet? If so, perhaps it's a good idea to take colour inspiration from that. Many of your wedding photos will have your venue in the background, so if you go with colours that compliment your surroundings, it will enhance all the details.

TeenDivided · 29/09/2023 09:47

Personally I'd think what colour might actually suit your bridesmaids and go with that.

Plus - 2 years to organise a wedding??
