Not a July wedding

We'd completely forgotten to select a first dance song and my MIL took it upon herself to ask the DJ to play We've Only Just Begun by the Carpenters.

Not a bad song in itself, but we'd already arranged for that at the start of our wedding video, so it was on there twice, which irked me. Our fault really for not planning properly I suppose.

We surprised everyone by secretly learning how to swing dance for it - we were still totally rubbish because neither of us is dancing material but no one cared and they loved it!

We went with Coldplay "Something just like this" as it was in the charts at the time and as we didn't have a song we went with one from the year we got married.

Beautiful song but it is a slow one.

Nobody does it better by Carly Simon, followed by I don’t feel like dancing by the Scissor Sisters.

At a friend’s wedding they had a slow dance for 30 seconds which then broke in to Gangnam Style, Macarena, loads of cheesy songs, great fun.

You and Me by the Wannadies which is slow for a bit at the beginning and when it then bursts into the chorus we had our friends rush the dance floor… Loved it!

I organise wedding dance lessons, so I get asked this sort of thing a lot! Are You Ready For Love is a great one. There are so many good upbeat songs and I would suggest that you look over the lyrics to help you chose, as some will be more 'you' than others.
