Hi everyone

I was looking for opinions mainly please. I was engaged about 10 years ago and never got married but I had brought a dress. We split up. I've been in a relationship for 3 years, have a baby together and have discussed marriage. Would it be really bad for me to wear the dress I already have? It's my dream dress and beautiful. Or is it too weird and I should just buy a new one?

If it still fits definitely wear it. I don’t think it’s weird at all - it’s not a shared experience between you and your ex as it was never worn, so I think it’s fine.

I’m very pragmatic and if I still loved the dress I’d wear it.

However you might want to rally some friends and go wedding dress shopping to see if there’s anything current that catches your eye. If not you will have made a day of it, drunk some champagne and began the wedding preparations. 🍾

I think it would be dreadfully wasteful to get another dress when you have this one

And I think it would be a travesty to deny yourself your “dream dress” because of an ex

Wear it! Nobody will know. Wedding dresses are £££££ to buy but nobody wants them second hand so it would be mad to buy a new one.

If you love the dress and it's not weird for you then wear it. No-one else needs to know.

Does anyone else know you bought your dress for your first wedding?

Not that it makes a difference per se - but I’d feel a bit strange knowing people knew. Probably a reflection on me rather than a reason not to wear it…

No one knows it was brought when I was with my ex. My partner does but doesn't feel weird about it because I never married him

It still fits and I'm still just as in love with it as before and when I see it I don't think of ex, I think how happy it makes me. I think this has convinced me to wear it.
