I want to give some money as a wedding gift.
How much is a suitable amount now?

In my upper middle class circles: if the couple are your good friends or relatives then £50 a head (so £100 if you’re a couple).

I personally give £100.- and I give the same regardless of how posh the wedding is/ how much I've spent on the rest of the wedding- hotel, hen do, travel etc..
I would also give £100 if I'm invited to the wedding but can't go.
Have been told by friends that its 'not enough these days!'- they suggest £200-£300!- which is more than I want to give. I would be mortified if anyone gave me £300 as a gift, I actually find it a bit vulgar!
But, like everything else, weddings and the expense of them seems to have gotten out of hand and be so over the top these days!
Interestingly, the last 2 weddings I was at, didn't send out thank you cards!

Totally depends on your budget and how close a relationship you have with them.
I would give my nephew a lot more than I would give a colleague for example.

I know when my niece got married, I was chatting with her some weeks later and she said they had all sorts of amounts from £10 up to £150, and there was no correlation between the amount and people you would necessarily think were better / worse off.
