Wanting to marry in Edinburgh, not necessarily in the registry office

Who do we give notice to and when? Our local registry office? (We live nowhere near Edinburgh)

No, it'll be the area you're getting married in. If you've already booked your celebrant they'll keep you right (in fact you'll need to organise them before you give notice as you need their details). The forms + supporting documents must be in between 12 weeks and 29 days before your wedding. We had to make an appointment to submit them. Only one of you needs to go, or you can post it. You then need to collect the marriage schedule in person the week of the wedding, and return it within 3 days of getting married.
