How many last minute dropouts to expect?

I’ve noticed at every wedding I’ve been to recently there’s been a handful of guests who’ve declined at the last minute, often a few with covid (personally slightly sceptical of that excuse, I don’t know anyone who still tests, but anyway…).

For anyone who’s got married recently, did you have this? How many people? I’m trying to work out how many dropouts to anticipate for our 100 person wedding this autumn.

We had a total of 25 dropouts:
-Some of them said absolutely nothing and had to chase them and a few gave some lame excuses, like they had too many weddings that year (fair enough) but some wedding you just can not go and it wouldn't matter. This was said to me about my wedding while I was treating this person to lunch
-A family of 3 had sent the RSVP saying yes and when I asked when they were arriving to the wedding location 3 weeks before the wedding, they said they didn't know if they would make it. I don't know if they would have said anything if I haven't asked
-Two couples said no from the beginning
-Two said no a month before due to a work trip
-One dropout 2 days before the wedding, reason was that she had broken up with her boyfriend a month before (he was an usher) and she thought she could make it but it was hard for her. It was a complicated break up

Shock

I was going to say, surely this will depend on the people you have invited.
I wouldn't anticipate any drop outs, but then, that isn't something that our friends (or family) do. Presumably people who change their mind last minute, are people you know have form for doing that ?

Obviously not talking about someone having an accident or heart attack in the days running up to the wedding, I'm talking about people who just don't turn up, or drop out for a flimsy reason.

We had 2 dropouts. One was a relationship breakup, the other sent no word just didn’t turn up on the day.

I have to say, I do still test for covid if I have symptoms and am due to meet others.

I think maybe 2 out of 100
