Recent Spouses - Do you have to include parents' names on the marriage certificate

With all the recent law changes, just wondering if one has to include either parent's name on the marriage certificate. Can it just be left blank?

Having legally changed my surname so as not to give credit to an absent parent, I really don't want to include them on my marriage schedule or disclose details to witnesses I have never disclosed before.

Also, I've read you need to take a birth certificate, although without knowing my age, the registry office only requested a passport and one proof of address. Does that sound right?

Hi I am a registrar and I can confirm that in England & Wales you do not have to record any parents details, you can leave it blank, lots do. You can also record any step parents if they are, or were, married to your parent

I opted not to have my Father on my marriage certificate, there were no problems. Completely optional and registrar v understanding
