Own hair and makeup - advice?

I'm having a super cheap wedding and just can't really justify the cost of professional hair and makeup. I'm not really a makeup person anyway and I'd rather look like myself (although I will wear it on the day). Has anyone got any advice for products I should try?

Can you book yourself in for a make up demonstration at somewhere like Boots and then just buy one or two if the products you like? You found always take a friend with you and ask them to help you.

Hair I'm not so sure on? Do you know how you want it to be?

Have you had quotes for hair OP? I thought it would be really expensive but mine cost £30 (my mum paid, hence I had no idea how much it cost until she paid!) I've no idea if this is the norm or not but maybe! I'm truly rubbish at hair so couldn't have done mine myself.

I did my own makeup, I would suggest finding a look you like and then practise it over and over.find a good tutorial on YouTube (I like Andrea Ali, she has a few bridal tutorials and is a professional makeup artist for celebrities so knows her stuff)
I also got colour matched at the Estee Lauder counter and got a sample of the Double Wear foundation which I used on the day.

Could you book a normal hairdressing appointment on the morning of your wedding? Get a blow dry or an update?

*updo

Book yourself an appointment at a make up counter in boots ahead, I'm sure they would love recommending products, they may even offer to do your makeup on the day if the store location works for you

I got a haircut the day before and went along to a nearby department store on the day and got makeup done there, spending only enough to buy a few products. I didn't book makeup in advance so it was a bit of a gamble but I took my own stuff just in case it didn't work out. I don't normally wear makeup so wouldn't have minded paying someone a reasonable amount to do it but wedding makeup is exorbitant.
