Wedding advice please?

I am having a massive confidence crisis here and need MN help.

I am due to be getting married later this year at Gretna Green and it will be just the 2 of us.

We have both been married before. Him a registry office and me the whole church scene.

As a more mature second time bride I really cannot see myself being comfortable in a long white dress and am leaning towards a pale coloured long dress.

I have found a few I like but they are classed as bridesmaids dresses Shock

As my wedding is a secret from everyone else I have no one to ask if I will look ridiculous as an older bride in a bridesmaids dress!

Will it look like a bridesmaids dress?

Will all the white dressed beauties at Gretna Green be taking time away from their nuptials to snigger at this old bird?

Please help with some advice / feedback

I will attach a photo of the style and colour that I am looking at, but please note I am neither the age or the slenderness of the model

Wedding advice please?

It's lovely. Wear what you like and what makes you happy. Don't fret about what you think you should wear.

Just because it might be 'labelled/tagged' as bridesmaid, in no way means a bride can't wear it! Its simply advertising to get sales!

In the nicest way though OP- I would have never considered that pic you posted as a BM dress! Its very hard to see the detail from the pic, but it looks like soft, denim coloured, summer dress!

If you love it, go for it, but it says neither wedding nor even remotely bridesmaid to me.

This is exactly what I would say to someone else but I think my confidence is rock bottom Hmm

It does not look like a bridesmaid’s dress at all! Not in any way!!!

WandaWonder · 30/04/2023 02:17

When I first read this I thought if it was me I may dress like I was going to Ascot

Hard to explain though

BingDing · 30/04/2023 20:19

You’ll look lovely in that dress! Try not to worry about others and concentrate on enjoying your day.

It's beautiful and looks perfect for a Gretna Green wedding. Congrats by the way 👰‍♀️💍

Fleetw00d · 02/05/2023 20:49

That looks beautiful and I think you should wear what you feel comfortable in! Congratulations!

I know two brides who got married in Beidemaid's dresses, one peacock blue and one pale gold. Both look absolutely fabulous.

My wedding dress was classed as a bridesmaid's dress. I couldn't have cared less. A traditional white wedding dress wasn't my thing.

Wear what you want to wear.

Also getting married at Gretna this year! Have you decided on a dress now? X
