After. They all took it really well.

The day we got home! It went down well thankfully!

We sent a combined announcement/invitation to a party when we got back.

I think the idea of eloping means that you’ve done it in secret and no one knows until it’s done. Otherwise you’re just getting married!

If you tell anyone before then you haven't eloped.

We sent a picture of the wedding rings and the sign of Gretna green the night before the wedding with a message saying "guess what we're doing". We were planning to wait until afterwards but decided we would tell the family at least and then told everyone else once we got home.
