I’m going dress shopping today!

I’m going wedding dress shopping for the first time today and I suddenly feel crazy nervous. Like it’s occurred to me that the wedding is actually going to happen.

My appointment is at 2pm and I’m on my period, annoyingly.

I want it to be a lovely day, what tips have you got?

Congratulations have a fab time!
Tips - try on stuff you wouldn't think you would not like. I wanted sparkly diamondy things until I tried on really plain simple things and found that was what suited me. Book in for dress alterations 6 months or more in advance of the day, a good fit transforms the look and they can get booked up fast/need time.

As Sleepyhedgehog said try on everything- I was convinced I didn't want a meringue but that's what suited me and and I bought - my SIL thought she wanted straight up and down - went for something completely different.

I am trying to be open minded about what I want. It’s weird because obviously I haven’t worn a wedding dress before, apart from my mum’s once!

I’m going with my mum, SIL and future MIL (I’m lucky we are really close).

Agree with trying on things that you wouldn't normally wear. I thought I wanted something sleek and simple in ivory - I ended up with a gold organza extravaganza with a massive princess skirt. I adored it.

Sounds lovely- would it be cheeky to ask for a photo or a link to the dress - I love weddings and everything about them! No worries if you would prefer to keep it to yourself - it's understandable

oh I absolutely love that ❤️❤️It reminds me on an Irish actress Amy Hubermans dress which was very very pretty and classy

Or ones with a glittery star that can be seen through chiffon…. Much to amusement of shop owner
