Hello,
We are looking to have a very small wedding in york this year. We will only have 5-9 guests. Does anyone know anywhere? I've obv looked online and enquired but maybe someone has done the same? Our plan is small wedding, then dinner somewhere and hotel Smile

I don't know York but just wondered what their Registry Office is like? With the size of your wedding that sounds like it could be an option?

I was a witness for a Mumsnet elopement at York Registry office. There is a lovely garden at the back. The building looks to have some nice architectural features. But didn't see a ceremony room as the couple were married in An office full of computers. Which was a bit odd.

My friends had a civil ceremony at the Register Office. Just 8 guests (they said there was one price for up to 8 and then it cost much more for 9+). As a PP said, the gardens behind were lovely. We were in the ceremony room, no computers!

@Toddlerteaplease i was also a witness at the same wedding! Hi Todderteaplease! I wonder how the couple are, and how their dc took the news...

Agree that it was an intimate venue, the garden was beautiful and within walking distance of parking, the city centre and the river.

I should say that it was during covid restrictions that the mumsnet wedding took place which would explain the peculiarity of the 'back office' room!

Hi! We wanted york but by the time we went to book it was too late and now dates aren't until end of Sep.

Can you wait until then? It's a lovely venue.

Unfortunately not! But we have now chosen Harrogate!

@Can2022getanyworse yes. I thought if then on their first anniversary. I hope they are happy. They were lovely!

Toddlerteaplease · 24/02/2023 21:28

@Can2022getanyworse I did wonder if they were offered a room but weren't really bothered about the setting. Just the actual marriage. And I admire that.
