Non- cheesy wedding readings HELP

Hi lovely people, we are Getting married next week and we still haven't managed to come across anything that we like. My sister will be doing a reading and everything she's suggesting sounds cheesy.

So we've had a look and all I can say is .. cringe 😬

Can anyone recommend a good reading? That's romantic but not too much 😂

I'm not sure why I'm stressing. Most likely People aren't even going to listen 😂

There's a Winnie the Pooh one I've heard, sweet of read by a young person

Us two? I think that one is awful and ultra cheesy when read by a young person!

What about the Captain Corelli's Mandolin one about roots being entwined. I quite like that one for a non religious wedding.

I like A Vow by Wendy Cope. But even that might be too much for you!

I love the poem When You Are Old by Yeats - not sure if it is suitable for a wedding, but that line 'one man loved the pilgrim soul in you' is just so beautiful.

God I hear you, it's so cringe! One person's romantic, is another's cheesefest! There's that one by Khalil Gibran, but that might be too much, are there any you've found that could be contenders?

The Yeats poem is about unrequited love, so maybe not! It would work without the last verse?

We had 'yes I'll marry you my dear' by Pam Ayers. The vicar was very liberal and loved it

There's a good one about trees having roots that entwine but still having room to branch out but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called

We felt the same and narrowed it down to these two and let my SIL (who was doing the reading) choose. She went with Vow.

I've only ever heard it at one wedding, but then I've only ever been to two weddings that werent held in a Church, so no idea how common it was/is.

Me too - read by my terribly thespian am-dram godmother. Civil wedding not church so no shocked vicar.

I used to love it but it’s been used at all 4 of the weddings I’ve been to in the last couple of years.

You haven't said if you are Christian or not but I do like Corinthians: love is patient, love is kind

Yes A Lovely Love Story thats what I meant, I could just remember the dinosaurs.
