White gold and platinum rings

I've read that your engagement ring and wedding band shouldn't be two different metals as they wear differently / have different hardness

I'm not sure we have the budget to get a ring made at the moment

Has anyone worn white gold and platinum together? Did you have any issues/regrets?

Thanks for your help

I've worn them together and apart from the mismatching colour (which i didn't mind) didn't notice any huge issues. The only thing I would say is that my white gold ring did get a bit more scratched so eventually I did stop wearing it alongside the platinum one as I didn't want to get to the point it was totally ruined, but that was after a few years.

Hopefully you'll only get married once, so buy the best and never think about it again. I got married in 2019 and my engagement and wedding rings are both in platinum. I heard stories about the white gold plating coming off and I just didn't want the hassle of having to send it off to be redone.

My engagement ring was from the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter. Our platinum wedding bands were from a local jeweller as they were cheaper. Shop around.

We both wear our rings every single day.

Is second hand an option? Jewelry prices drop like a rock so second hand tends to be really affordable.

The problem is if your wedding ring is harder than your engagement ring.

The wedding ring will wear away at the engagement and can damage the setting. It’s not such a problem if it’s the other way around.

Platinum is indeed more durable.
So, if there are stones in one ring ex diamond, I’d get platinum for that one.
Your engagement ring if no stones can be in white gold to save on budget

Sorry I meant white gold for wedding band. Many people do upgrade after btw, don’t worry too much about it💚. It’s just if there is a precious stone platinum is safer
