Engagement Ring After Resizing

Hi all

I got my engagement ring resized a few weeks ago but I’ve just noticed now that there’s a straight line down the back of the ring presumably from where it was resized. It’s hard to see unless you’re actually looking for it, but I’m just wondering if this is normal? It’s a platinum band. My main concern really is if it needs to be resized again and some point and it leaves another mark. Other than that I’m just slightly annoyed because I don’t think it’s something that can be fixed.

Did anybody else have something similar when having a ring sized down?

Do you mean a line around the band, like a seam?
I had mine resized twice and never had this. Also platinum. I would definitely ask them why!

Take it back and ask them to sort this out. If you don't feel confident you can go to another jeweller and see if they can help. Are you near the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter? I can recommend a few jewellers there. A good goldsmith shouldn't have left a single mark on the ring, especially the solder join. It needs sanding and re polishing.

(I'm a hobby silversmith)

Thanks for the responses. It’s like you can see where the band was cut. I’m annoyed I didn’t notice it until now.

Nowhere near Birmingham unfortunately but I’ll go back to where I bought it tomorrow and ask them what can be done.

Just in case anybody else has a similar problem I brought it back today and the lady told me there definitely shouldn’t be any lines. The person who will fix it won’t be there until next week but I was assured it will be sorted out.
