Bridesmaid Dresses Help

Hi guys,
I have three bridesmaids for my wedding. I told all of them that they could choose their own dresses out of a particular store. I chose the colour that's all.

The trouble is two of them have chosen the same dress (polyester and crepe matt finish). The third bridesmaid chose a satin one with a shiny finish so the shade of colour looks slightly different. My other half thinks it won't look well. Can I get opinions on this please?

The only thing that would worry me about this is that the bridesmaid in the different dress might look more special than the other two, in the same way that if people have a maid of honour she often has a slightly different dress to signify her importance.

I’m doing the same as you but I have specifically asked to please make sure either all the dresses are the same, or all the dresses are different (also three bridesmaids)

My intention was to have three different dresses on my three bridesmaids. Bridesmaid 1 is my chief bridesmaid so she chose a satin dress. Bridesmaid 2 and 3 both chose another dress which is a crepe material so they will be matching.
I don't mind my chief bridesmaid being in a different dress. It's more so that I'm wondering if the satin dress she is wearing will clash with the two crepe bridesmaids and my crepe wedding dress.

Can you make sure you position them in photos so that the satin one is in the middle bit of a pain though.

Is the satin dress one your MOH, family member anything like that? Because that would make the difference look more planned.

If you're really worried about it you could ask her to choose one in a similar material to the other two but this may come across a bit Bridezilla like when you didn't specify material in the first place.

Sorry that's probably not much help OP

I think it’s fine as she is the Chief BM - same colour just a different fabric/texture?

But if you want the other 2 to be a bit different could you add a belt/sash or bolero jacket etc to one of them? Speak to a dress-maker for ideas?

So you told them they could each choose whichever dress they wanted, which is what they've done, and now you've decided that isn't what you want?!
I hope you're paying for these dresses....

This ^
I mean, either you want matching dresses, or you don't.
Did this conversation not come up when you were in the shop ?

Can you make a belt/sash thing out of the same satin for the crepe dresses to tie it in together?

Matter is sorted but thanks for the advice ladies. Going for same two dresses on bridesmaid 2 and 3 and then chief bridesmaid in a completely different choice. Material is completely different and so shade of colour is different too. But at least I know they all picked their favourites so I won't have to worry about them not feeling good on the day. I would stress too much about whether they were happy with what they were wearing or not.
My chief bridesmaid was the one stressing about whether or not it would work as the stylist in the store advised that it would look better if the materials complimented each other more. So I thought I'd get some opinions from you lovely ladies.
Much appreciate anyone that got back to me with kind and helpful advice.

I am paying for everything for them of course. Chief bridesmaid is concerned about whether she will clash with the other bridesmaids as the store stylist that helped us was trying to put us off buying a third dress with clashing material. I guess I wanted other opinions on whether this would be a big no no or was stylist just being too fussy. I don't tend to have a good eye for this kind of thing.
But thank you for your kind and helpful reply 😊 👍
