Hello you beautiful people

Ive not long booked my wedding, I get married in 10 months. What little tips do you all have on how to make it special? I’ve never been to a wedding so any advice would be great please.

Elope. 🤐save yourself money stress and faff

Make sure your guests are properly watered and fed - that includes alcohol, and that they are not hanging around endlessly between the actual wedding and reception.

And don’t take yourself too seriously- just have fun!

Spend money on food and drink. I've been to loads of weddings, and 20 years later I can remember the one where we literally did not get fed at all, and ended up in the chippy at 9pm; and the one where food was plentiful, imaginative and forthcoming.

No one really cares about favours, chair covers, the bridesmaids' shoes or what the flowers are. Don't sweat the small stuff, but do feed people well. Reduce your guest list if necessary to achieve this. Don't make the veggies/vegans/other alternative ideas feel undercatered - a slice of aubergine on a piece of frozen pastry is no equivalent to a lamb shank and a pile of roasties!

Good music. We had a live blues band at our evening and everyone was up dancing. People still mention how good the band was and how much fun it was 20 years later. That and food!
