Abroad wedding venue for a small wedding

Raveon2000 · 17/09/2022 22:12

Does any one have any recommendations for a venue in Greece, Spain, Italy for a small wedding?
I love the look of the first dates hotel if anyone has seen it? Loads of flowers, fairy lights, lovely setting etc?
Also not ridiculously priced? Seems like a tiny wedding abroad can equate to a massive white wedding at home!!

Weddings, are such a huge expense. Do yourselves a favour, choose the cheapest option in this country. A nice meal, and save yourself a fortune.

You may gather I’ve started to loathe weddings, and that’s just at the expense as a guest

Raveon2000 · 18/09/2022 07:25

In the same that's why I want just a few close family in a nice location abroad.

I’m picturing a day when people use the Chat, Wedding or even Holiday forum to discuss this kind of thing

Op, kindly please save yourself and everyone the expense and have it local where I'm sure there are many, many great options.

I would not use leave from work and a ton of money to attend someone's wedding abroad. If I'm going away, it's to the destination of my choice at a time and cost that suits me. The First Dates hotel is indeed gorgeous, but I'm still not wasting the money on someone else's holiday.

That's really really rude. Some people will have had their weddings in Blackpool or stayed in a 2 star hotel.

We got married in kefalonia. Was small & beautiful

feckingknackered · 18/09/2022 07:55

Watching with interest as I'm considering this too. Hope you get more useful answers

feckingknackered · 18/09/2022 07:56

@MsMiaWallace bet that was lovely, was it expensive?

marcopront · 18/09/2022 08:04

I understand having a wedding abroad if there is a connection to the place but you are expecting family and friends to pay for travel expenses and accommodation for this wedding.

Why not ask those who would be willing to spend a few thousand travelling to your wedding abroad to give you the money and spend it on a wedding at home.

I got married here, just me and my now husband. For us it was perfect, not too expensive plus we had an amazing honeymoon in Rhodes.

QuitMoaning · 18/09/2022 08:19

This is where I would love to get married as I love the area as well and it is beautiful but it won’t happen due to complicated family reasons

A few years ago my friend married in kalithea springs in Rhodes it was beautiful.

Dont be upset if family or friends can’t afford to go abroad.

fortheloveofflowers · 18/09/2022 08:29

I wouldn’t waste my annual leave and the huge cost of going to a wedding abroad.

There are so many nice places here, lovely small boutique hotels etc.

it costs a fortune to attend as wedding with travel, hotel, presents, clothing etc that adding a flight in and then travel to hotel is just way too much unless your are minted.

People will say yes but will be moaning about it behind your back. Especially with the cost of living crisis.

parietal · 18/09/2022 08:32

How many people are you inviting? Can they all really afford the time off? What is the carbon footprint of all the flights?

Get a more expensive venue in the UK and you can have a lovely time.

Crazykefir · 18/09/2022 08:33

They have wedding packages on cruses. Don't know if it's you sort of thing.

RoundTheTwister · 18/09/2022 08:52

@BestCatMumEver are you a friend of mine.....

BestCatMumEver · 18/09/2022 09:11

Possibly but then probably unlikely as I think it’s one of those destination wedding venues. I know about 3 people who got married there strangely.
