Need music ideas

I need some help with music for the wedding. I don't want the typical songs that everyone has. I'm looking for something a bit different, but I'm getting really stuck. Can anyone help with ideas for walking down the aisle, the 3 songs needed for the signing, and then to talk back down the aisle? I'm drawing a blank!! I liked the idea of the wedding March by Queen! 😂

It's going to depend on what music you like really, especially as you have ruled out "typical songs that everyone has" - I mean, what is it about the popular songs that you dislike ? Then that might help narrow it down.

Also, how long is your aisle ? Because, unless you are marrying in a Cathedral, then a lot of songs will still be on te introduction when you find you have arrived..... keep that in mind when making your choices. It really doesn't take long to walk across a room, however slowly you think you are walking.

Think t also depends on what you like to do. We went to a wedding where the couple loved their caravan and walked back down the aisle to Caravan of Love.

I like the popular songs, but we just wanted ones that a little bit unusual, not the ones that are normally picked. The wedding is not "typical ", no bridesmaids, no speeches, bbq for the food. Nothing against the traditional songs, just after ones a little bit unusual. I can't even describe it lol. The aisle is quite long if we get married outside as it's through the trees, or I'll be short if we have to get married inside due to the weather. Which isn't helpful lol

I don’t know what the point in seeking something ‘unusual’ is for the sake of it. Just as meaningless as choosing Perfect by Ed Sheeran. Our walking back up the aisle song was Love Story by Taylor Swift - not unusual at all, but I love TS so it meant something to me (a few guests said they were surprised she wasn’t our first dance song as well!). Just choose songs you love or that have meaning to you and your partner. The only person who’ll remember what they were in a year’s time is you. But I’ll throw in the soundtrack of Six as the signing the register songs, just because as a guest I’d love that.

I had jurassic Park instrumental version to walk down the aisle and lord of the rings as the signing music.

If it helps at all - when we eloped and actually got married, I walked in to Strawberry Letter #23 by Shuggie Otis. For our fake wedding with people, I walked in to One Day Like This by Elbow.

We had Here Comes the Sun to walk down the aisle to and Circle of Life to come out to. Our son was 9 months old when we got married and he was also christened within the service so both songs seemed to fit in well with that too.

Mu dream is walking done aisle turning page by sleeping at last though its very long but gorgeous song

37GoingUnder · 08/08/2022 23:11

I walked in to Lily Allen version of Somewhere Only We Know, we had Ben Howard Only Love for the registers, should have picked two songs for that as it went on a bit, I’d have picked Kodaline High Hopes given my time again. We walked out to Pharell Happy.

ThinkingFace · 08/08/2022 23:11

We had an unusual song for the first dance. It was This Strange Effect by The Shacks. Original was by The Kinks which I actually prefer but The Shacks version was good for a slow dance.

Normandy144 · 08/08/2022 23:14

I walked down the aisle to Hoppipolla by Sigur Ros (it you don't know it written down, Google it and you'll instantly know it). It builds very well so is a good aisle walk song. Walking back out we had 70s classic Love is in the Air by John Paul Young. I can't even remember if we had music during the register signing. I don't think we did?

SpottyStripyDuvet · 08/08/2022 23:14

We wanted a fun song to walk out to so that it signalled the end of the formal part of the wedding and onto the party so went with Barry White "My first, my last, my everything".

maddy68 · 08/08/2022 23:16

Some quirky, more offbeat suggestions:
Eels 'I like the way this is going'
Nick Cave and the Badseeds 'Breathless'
Richard Hawley 'Tonight, the streets are ours'
The Zombies 'This will be our year'
