Bridesmaid gifts

Hoping you can all help me - I've never been a bridesmaid and I have 2 and a maid of honor for my wedding. I know I'm supposed to do "something" to thank them.

What sort of gift is the norm? When do I give them it?

Thank you

I gave each a necklace, during the grooms speech

You don't have to. I gave mine a candle. Went down well.

Oh and I gave them before the wedding so they could put them in their bags. If you give out too many things during the speeches it gets a bit like some sort of school prize giving and we wanted to give our mums flowers.

OK perfect so just something small as a thank you?! Perfect. Did you do " Thank you" cards too?

I gave mine a necklace and earrings on the morning of the wedding (with a card) for them to wear on the day and naturally keep.

I did thank you cards. I had paid for all their expenses including accommodation, clothing etc. and tried to be as low key as possible as a bride (definitely no weekend hen party etc.) and felt that a heartfelt card was fine although I'm now wondering if it was considering the other replies! I do think all the wedding 'stuff' can spiral unnecessarily.

Have a look at Bloom. They do lovely personalised jewellery. I brought my sister a wedding day bracelet from there (she was the bride) and she got us BM presents. I have loads of their stuff now it's Lovely and really well priced

We had our wedding rings made by a local jeweller, and I got her to make ear rings for my Mum, the MotG, and bridesmaid, in a similar style
