Is this a weird choice - flowergirls/pageboys

DP best man has two children who I was going to ask to be flower girl/pageboy. They are only little but I know would be really excited to have a special role for the day.

However I don’t know them super well as they don’t live close to us. Their dad has been DPs friend for years and is godparent to their daughter. However I’ve only met the children a handful of times. Would it be weird to ask them given that their associated with DP not me? I have two bridesmaids and another 2 flowergirls who are my nieces.

If they don't know you well, I can't imagine they'd be comfortable with that.

I think it would be lovely to include them and not strange at all.

It will be lovely to have best man's family in the bridal party. Ask them!

I think it's totally fair to ask, I can't see why anyone would be uncomfortable. Just do bear in mind that if they're pre-schoolers they may or may not feel like it on the day!

I meant the little kids might be uncomfortable, not the parents. They could be a bit shy if they don't know the bride well.

Nothing wrong with that at all, it's lovely. At our wedding we had one child from my side and two from DH's who I only know a little bit. One of them was preschool age. It was all fine.

Just make sure that best man can step in if the kids don't want to do their roles on the day (Ours had to step in for our toddler ring bearer who didn't fancy it)😂But we didn't mind at all. So it also partly depends how relaxed you are about it.
