Slim wedding band

I have found a lovely emerald cut engagement ring. Every wedding band I've tried seems to 'take away' from my engagement ring. My ring is about 2mm. I wanted to try a super slim band to see if that sits better but any of the highstreet shops so far have said they don't do less than 2mm as it will weaken the band.

Does anyone have a slim wedding band - does it last ok? Love to see some with engagement rings :)

Me! I have a slim white gold band. Looks good as new 5 years on 🤞🤞🤞

Mine is very thin, probably about 2mm. I bought it for the same reason as you.

I have been told that it looks like a curtain ring, but I like it!

Most (all?) metals will wear down as they rub against each other over years or decades. High carat golds are particularly soft. Mine are now quite sharp on their edges. If the ring is only 2mm to begin with, there might not be much left after 20-30 years!

I have tiny hands with short fingers, so I chose a 2mm white gold band, which, apart from the loss of the rhodium plating, hasn’t thinned or changed shape in 20 years or so.

It might make a difference that I stopped wearing my engagement ring over ten years ago, though, so my wedding band doesn’t rub against anything else.

I’m not sure of the width of mine but I had it made to exactly the same profile as my engagement ring and so the stone from my engagement ring sits in a “twist”. It wasn’t that expensive to have it handmade and designed. I’m glad I did.

Yes mine is slim.

Not quite 2mm but it's a slim diamond eternity ring as my engagement ring is a solitaire on an eternity style band so they match much nicer than a plain band would in my opinion.

But if my engagement ring had a slim metal ring then I'd match the wedding band to it. I like a matching pair.

Mine is under 2mm (about 1.7) It's very well made and doesn't feel delicate, but obviously it's not as sturdy as a thicker band would be. I take it off if I'm doing anything like gardening, cleaning or other work with my hands.

I'm also happy with the idea of it being replaced in the future if it does break (it's a simple band and would be easy to replace like-for-like). It's better if you are open to that idea because a thin band might not last forever.
