High street wedding dresses

LBF2020 · 01/06/2022 22:49

I'm getting married in September (eek!!) and I've been struggling to find a dress. We've been to a few bridal shops and I didn't like anything. I have tried some dresses from monsoon, whistles and reformation and although they weren't quite right I much preferred them to the bridal shop dresses. I think it's because they have less fabric/lining?

Anyway.. any other recommendations for high street wedding dresses?

I'm aware (and have tried stuff on from)
Monsoon
Whistles
Selfridges
Reformation
Coast

Thanks all Grin

Reiss doesn’t have a wedding dress collection as such but often has dresses that work - such as this:

also see Ghost and Needle and Thread

Ghost dresses are so nice, often have sales and there are websites that can personalise them with belts and collars etc. Bridesmaids are lovey too. Good luck dress hunting!

Why not give us you size and style choice - we can all have a look for you.

MarmiteCoriander · 01/06/2022 23:50

Could you give us a clue about what style you are after and price range? Full length, cocktail length, puffy, slimline, sleeves, strapless, white, coloured etc etc???

bestbl · 01/06/2022 23:51

My dress is from here and it's spectacular

Hope and Ivy do beautiful dresses (and sell some of them through asos, but more choice on their website). I haven't had a wedding one, but wore one of their dresses as a guest and the quality was great

Mine was Phase Eight, found it in house of fraser.

Ooh fab! Thanks so much!

Size 12/14, I prefer plain dresses with no lace. Not strapless. I would say I am hourglass figure, although I have just had a breast reduction so I'm not quite sure what my silhouette is now.
It definitely doesn't need to be a 'traditional' style wedding dress.

Loved the shape of this but the material wasn't great sadly

Hi, l know what you mean, I couldn't find what I liked so I put my own wedding outfit together, mainly from h&m. I found a long, lace, ivory skirt and put it with an ivory bodysuit top.

Also, the sandles were from an independent shop on the High Street. My flowers and head garland were from my friend's garden. And I found a 50p broach at a boot sale to go on my top.

The whole outfit was around £90 and I quite liked putting it together myself in the end.

handy to know how to embellish a plain dress and don't forget a long dress can always be cut shorter

They have some lovely dresses and I am in love with this jumpsuit! Maybe I need a change of outfit for the evening? Grin

John Lewis , I've just typed in Wedding Dresses. They have lots.

SequinCola · 02/06/2022 10:20

My wedding dress was from Jarlo. I loved it, very unfussy buy had a sort of old Hollywood feel. Quite a few with a similar feel to that first reformation one you posted.

Not high street in the UK but online: have you looked at BHLDN?
There seem to be lots of dresses that meet your criteria.
